Beans and Peas

Green beans are tender and delicious cooked or eaten raw; they are stringless, just remove the tip and stem! During peak season we may offer bushels of green beans for canning/freezing.
Availability: Regular, July-September
Storage recommendations: Fresh beans should be stored in the refrigerator and must be kept humid but not wet–a slightly opened plastic bag works well for this. They may keep up to a week, but the flavor declines quickly in storage.

Yellow flat beans (a romano-type bean) have a very similar flavor and texture to the standard green bean, but the shape and color can add some interest to dishes.

Classic, old-fashioned shell peas make a wonderful sweet snack, and are often ready just in time to make new potatoes and peas! Open the shells up and enjoy!
Availability: Occasional, June
Storage recommendations: Peas may be stored in the refrigerator, but we recommend using them as soon as possible. The natural sugars in peas quickly breaks down to starch, causing flavor to decline significantly in only a few days.

Snap peas have a succulent, tender, and juicy shell that is edible–just remove the stem and string. They make a great snack, and work well in salads and stir-fry.
